IITA BBEST PARTAKES IN THE 38TH EDITION OF THE NATIONAL FARMERS’ DAY CELEBRATION

The 38th National Farmers Day celebration and agricultural fair was held at the Golden Jubilee Park, Koforidua in the eastern region under the theme: “accelerating agricultural development through value addition” from November 29th to December 2nd, 2022. The celebration brought together stakeholders, farmers, fishers, and value chain actors from various parts of the country to showcase their products and to share ideas that can help transform the sector. The IITA BBEST project was one of the projects showcased by IITA Ghana at the fair. Members from the coordination unit from Accra were part of the team present at the event ground to tell people what the project was about and to answer visitors’ questions an informative flyer was printed and given to people, in addition to that videos were displayed to provide more information on the project. The exhibition stand was visited by about 200 people from different fields of work. His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was the special guest of honor at the award ceremony that was held on December 2nd, the climax date of the fair and he noted the impact the global crisis is having on the agriculture sector, especially farmers. He said that interventions by the government like the One District One Factory1D1F are helping to promote value addition. image8.jpg A staff of the IITA BBEST Project educating a visitor at the stand on the BSF technology.
